Skinny and the City

SkinnyAndTheCity logo image 02.png
Skinny and the City was born from a dietary newsletter written for private clients that evolved into a free website where women can get professional advice that combines diet and nutrition with the latest trends in beauty and fashion. Skinny and the City's promise is far more than offering you weight loss through conventional dietary means. The main focus of the website, and the dietitians behind, it is that this weight loss does not come packaged with having to abandon all the parties and social life that most of us love so much. You don't have to drastically change your current lifestyle in order to be able to achieve weight loss permanently.

The website was founded by Tanya Zuckerbrot, MS, RD, a popular New York private practice dietitian, with over a decade of experience providing dietary advice. Tanya, along with four other resident experts in diet and nutrition, will help guide you to a slimmer, healthier you - while still maintaining your present lifestyle.

What does the Website Offer?

In keeping with the goal of Skinny and the City to be a complete resource for women who want to stay healthy without missing out on all the fun of life, the website offers fashion and beauty tips, suggestions for dining out, as well as new and exciting recipes - all this and much more with a focus on staying healthy. Following are some of the important sections of the website:

The Skinny Kitchen

For those of us who love to cook, this section of the website offers recipes for food as well as desserts that are not only delicious but also keep you healthy. Articles in this section are written by Sophia (see more information about her below) to whom you can even make a request for a recipe or ask any questions that you might have. Click here to visit the Skinny Kitchen.

Dining Out

Being health conscious can be really painful if you also have a passion for dining out in great restaurants with your boyfriend or kids. But why make a trade-off when you have better options? Check out Skinny and the City's Dining Out section for suggestions and recommendations for restaurants as well as dishes that can help you maintain a slim figure without having to quit dining out.

Fashion and Beauty

Skinny and the City strives to become a lot more than just a health and dietary website. The Fashion and Beauty section offers tips for how to look more trendy and stylish without having to spend too much on beauty products. This section of the website is written by Chloe, who can also be contacted for any questions/tips you might want to have. Click here to see more.

Obsessions

Many of us have obsessions, such as fetish for chocolates, ice cream or even onions, that do not exactly go with our passion for staying healthy or being stylish. Again, Skinny and the City keeps with its philosophy of not making trade-offs by suppressing the passions but finds out a way to respect our obsessions while staying healthy. If this resonates with you, in the sense that you also have some such obsession, feel free to contact Ava, who writes this section of SkinnyAndTheCity.com.

Newsletter

Skinny And the City offers a free newsletter for their visitors which includes recipes, restaurant & food guides, tips on nutrition, help with obsessions and beauty and fashion tips. If you are someone who wants to keep your weight in check without missing much in your indoor or outdoor life, this is probably the right thing to start your day with.

Tanya Zuckerbrot

Tanya, wife and mother of three, lives in New York City. Her passion for food developed after gaining weight in college. She began experimenting with low-fat cooking and lost 15 pounds eating delicious, healthy meals. This led Tanya to pursue a master’s degree to become a registered dietitian at NYU. She is also the author of The F-Factor Diet: Discover the Secret to Permanent Weight Loss. Tanya appears regularly on shows such as: MSNBC, ABC News, CBS News. She’s also appeared on the The Rachael Ray Show, and The Food Network, among others.

Raven

Raven, wife and mother of a young son, lives in New York. She spent 8 years in corporate America when at the age of 30, she decided to go back to school for a master’s degree in nutrition from NYU. She has her own private nutrition practice where she helps her patients lose weight and get healthy. Raven’s love of food, wine, and restaurants has helped her find the best dishes to maintain weight — and she wants to share that knowledge with you.

Chloe

Chloe lives in Los Angeles, CA. The oldest of five siblings, she grew up in Beverly Hills, but did not live the typical luxurious lifestyle. Money was tight and with the responsibility of also dressing her younger brothers and sisters, she learned to be creative in putting together mix and match outfits she would find at vintage stores and flea markets. She was voted “Most Stylish” in her high school yearbook! She attended the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in L.A., and worked as an intern with a stylist who dresses celebrities.

Sofia

Sofia, of Chicago, Illinois, grew up with an Italian father, an Ethiopian mother, and a grandfather who owned a restaurant. In her teen years she was diagnosed with lupus. Treatment for the disease was high doses of steroids, which can have the side effects of an increased appetite and weight gain. She learned to modify recipes to maintain her weight. She later earned a degree in nutrition at NYU and became a registered dietitian. Now she’s an expert at showing others how to cook tasty food that satisfies cravings without adding inches.

Ava

Ava of Miami, Florida is a young woman who loves to share her opinions — which, according to her, are always right. Raised in Atlanta, Ava became a vegetarian in high school. She attended Cornell University because it has the top nutrition program in the country. She is passionate about her private nutrition counseling service, brainstorming ideas for clients, meeting with executives in the food service industry, and scouring Miami’s markets for the latest food products available.
